Cyberspace, originally conceived of as an autonomous Utopia parallel to reality, is increasingly being infiltrated by the rules of modern society. As in the physical world, public space has become public order. The airwaves we communicate on are the property of economic entities. Will it soon become illegal to construct buildings with bad network reception?

In the 80s, Jenny Holzer infiltrated advertisement boards to reflect on the life around her—but nobody looks at advertisement boards anymore. Nonetheless, we are being force-fed advertisement and propaganda on an unprecedented level.

My project, titled The Future Is Stupid in reference to Holzer’s Survival Series from 1985, deals with the question of ownership and the relationship between private and public. Who does your phone really belong to?
